JAMIE’S PLACE FOR STUFF

A Stroll Though Memory, Time and Politics With Stops Along The Way

Where’s The Alan Wrench?

We are about to “Fall Back” for Daylight Saving Time.  Scientists say that we should stay put in line with human circadian rhythm, but politicians have rejected this sensible advice, so back we go.  This means that the overlords will be informing us that we are hour late in providing sustenance and starvation is eminent. More than likely for a while we will be splitting the difference and they will be fed at 3:30 am and slowly creep back to the usual four am time.  We currently have three felines: Two indoor, Bahomet and MyMy and one outdoor skittish stray named Spare who still waits impatiently for his expected 4:00 AM feeding.

As much as we love dogs, movement, jobs and necessity have dictated a fifty year long line of furry beasts with odd names, all of whom have spent their lives with us unless loss or illness ended the relationship in life while lingering in memory. Every once in a while over the years, a vacancy has occurred when we promise not to adopt another until a reasonable amount of time has passed. This usually lasts as long as it takes before other chores mean driving on the same street as the humane society. For some reason our autos develop an uncontrollable veer into the parking lot. That or the fact that the Pierce County URL is among my favorites at the top of the computer screen. (awwww there are 107 fur babies who need a home).

Inform son, all cars are to stay off Center Street.

About Me

Retired great grandmother living in the Northwest US. Former radio Public Service Director and National Accounts Manager.

I’m a hair-dishevelled heilan’ coo,
Hamish McKay be ma name;
Welcome tae this dreichet glen
I’m cursed tae ca’ ma hame.
Depending on the mood I’m in
I’ll raise ma horns on high,
An’ if I like the look o’ ye
I’ll likely let ye by.
But should I dinnae like the look
O’ ye, then tak great care,
I’ll raise ma horns on high again,
Go on, get oot o’there!
So whether welcome yae or nae,
I’ll raise these horns sae mean,
Then ye shall ken ma meaning
By the twinkle o’ ma een.
