I know that there is a meme going around the internet that there’s so many angry white men around because there’s a black man in the White House. IMO, they represent a small minority. Methinks a lot of people are angry over economic forces that they feel helpless to affect or overcome. Nowadays one can do all the right things you are told one must do in order to “get ahead”… get an education, be innovative, work hard, save for the future… and it can mean nothing. Despite years of hard loyal work, the company decides to cut out your position and you find yourself sitting at home on a Tuesday afternoon. You graduate with all the right degrees (and a heavy debt) and the only employment you can find in your field pays $12.00 an hour. Etc., etc. … There are varying reasons why people are angry… some of them are very legitimate. To chalk it all up to racism IMO, is shortsighted and kinda lazy.
