Sometimes You Feel Like Dancing

Every once in a while I prowl around You Tube and discover buried treasure. As luck would have it, I’ve been hooked on Neil Diamond songs that weren’t included in the great movie, Song Sung Blue. Now Hugh Jackman is a great dancer, but he didn’t do any in the movie as that would have been out of character, so I struck gold with Crunchy Granola Suite. If you never saw Dancin’ either in the original tour in 1978/79 or the similar Fosse from 1999, they are a series of dances choreographed by Bob Fosse to a variety of compositions. Each one is remarkable for the talent and energy required of the dancers and contains some of Mr. Fosse’s best choreography.

I first saw Dancin’ almost 50 years ago in Los Angeles, and remember that evening vividly, so kick back, turn up your speakers and look at all the beautiful people doing phenomenal work. Here are a few other numbers from both Dancin’ and Fosse.

About Me

Retired great grandmother living in the Northwest US. Former radio Public Service Director and National Accounts Manager.

I'm a hair-dishevelled heilan' coo,
Hamish McKay be ma name;
Welcome tae this dreichet glen
I'm cursed tae ca' ma hame.
Depending on the mood I'm in
I'll raise ma horns on high,
An' if I like the look o' ye
I'll likely let ye by.
But should I dinnae like the look
O' ye, then tak great care,
I'll raise ma horns on high again,
Go on, get oot o'there!
So whether welcome yae or nae,
I'll raise these horns sae mean,
Then ye shall ken ma meaning
By the twinkle o' ma een.
