Welcome to 5 On Friday. First started by Travis and now carried on by Michael Golch.
As always, if you’d like to join us in the musical fun, the guidelines are basic and simple.
1. Grab the banner, make your post title Five on Friday, and be sure to sign the link at Golch Central.
2. Go to Playlist.com or You Tube to make your play list of five songs. You may choose a particular theme to share with us, or post random tunes if that’s your vibe for the day. You can simply post the play list, or you can add a little summary about what you are sharing.
3. Be sure to sign the Mr Linky on Mike’s site so everyone can find and visit your Set. When you visit a site containing a widget, you may provide information to be displayed by that widget. This is completely optional, and by entering this information you consent to display it to other visitors.
4. No tags, but feel free to invite your friends to play along if they need a post topic on a Friday.
Yesterday I had to joy of seeing Mary Poppins Returns on opening day. You can stop listening here, pack everyone into the car and just go yourself or stick around listen to some of the songs and then pack everyone into the car and go. Don’t forget to order the soundtrack. You (or the kids driving you crazy) are going to want to listen to these songs over and over again.
This is not a remake of the original Mary Poppins but a whole new story. The Banks children are now all grown up with grown up problems and it is obvious that the nearly perfect nanny must come to their rescue.
Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda star with some assist here and there with many of your favorites: Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury, Dick Van Dyke, and Colin Firth. There are echoes and familiar characters from the first film and from the books. There are eight books so we may have other adventures ahead of us.
In the mean time, here are several of the songs but you will need to go to the movie to see the several exuberant dance numbers. Blunt and Miranda create “almost” as much magic as Mary herself.
