For the first time, I have to confess to not really being interested in the Academy Awards. There is usually something or someone I want to root for. This year feels like a whole bunch of “good” movies, but no film or performance that feels as if it will stand the test of time to be called “great”.
Now the question is, how many of them will still be memorable enough that decades later you can recognize them from just one scene?

I think they will keep it pretty close to three hours tonight. Supposedly, there is something new in place to tell winners to wrap it up since the music doesn’t usually work. A trap door would be fun.
Siorse Ronan’s dress is amazing, as is Alicia Vikander’s dress.
I am wearing sweats and will, periodically, checking the paper towel-lined bowl on the top shelf of my refrigerator. Something seems to be defrosting.

Yes, you won. It was a well-produced show and seemed to go by pretty quickly.
So, Spike Lee won a special Oscar (given at a different ceremony, with two other people), and he did show up tonight?
I loved Rock going after Jada. She’s boycotting, but she wasn’t invited. Ha!
The in memorium line about it just being black folks killed by police while in their way to the movies. That was a powerful moment.
The stage was very pretty. I like shiny things. 🙂

Just in case (but you probably know), Hugh Jackman is in a new movie about ski-jumper, Eddie The Eagle.
Went to see it last Saturday. It was a good family movie.
I want to see Eddie the Eagle! Did either of you see 2014’s “Pride”? I saw it recently on cable – about gay rights activists in 1980’s England standing with miners there during their strike. The two groups couldn’t have been more different, but they had in common that they couldn’t stand Margaret Thatcher. It was really well-done.
