    worthy repost from last thread:

    Jamie,

Single malt and bed rest should do the trick. Repeat as necessary.

    Get to feeling better soon.

Hillary Clinton Ending 2015 on Top, Eyeing “Chaos Candidate” with Glee
    Taylor Marsh
    http://www.taylormarsh.com/2015/12/hillary-clinton-ending-2015-on-top-eyeing-chaos-candidate-with-glee/
““Shallow slogans don’t add up to a strategy. Promising to carpet bomb until the desert glows doesn’t make you sound strong — it makes you sound like you’re in over your head,” Clinton said. “Bluster and bigotry are not credentials for becoming commander-in-chief.” [NBC News]
IT’S CHRISTMASTIME, which means looking back on the year that’s in the rearview mirror. For Hillary Clinton, it brings a satisfying close to a tumultuous campaign year where her entire message was hijacked for almost half of it. Watching the “chaos candidate” Donald Trump, Clinton has to be confident that she can handle whatever comes her way in 2016.

Hillary is poised to take on a Republican party that has cornered the market on American Islamophobia.

As she continues to lay out policies and talk in specifics, as we saw last night, as close as our national parties remain to one another, when it comes to details and in-depth understanding of foreign policy challenges the next president will face, Clinton is without question the most prepared.

Meanwhile, Jeb! has finally made a contribution to the 2016 season. Crowning The Donald the “chaos candidate,” which went viral the instant he said it.

Democrats debate on Saturday night, the silliest scheduling imaginable.

As we all wait for the main event to begin, the voting, which isn’t very far off.”

Carly Fiorina stands firm: General who retired in 2003 was somehow forced out by Obama

Don’t get me wound-up about our officer class. I’ve served with some fine ones, but ones like Petraeus tarnish the rest by association; he is scum.

Communities of color hate Republicans more than ever, and GOP seems psyched about that!
    By kos
    http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2015/12/16/1460788/-Communities-of-color-hate-Republicans-more-than-ever-and-GOP-seems-psyched-about-that
“So RNC Chair Reince “we have the deepest bench of people no one wants to vote for” Priebus is always good for a laugh, but this morning’s contribution was particularly good:

[The Republican Party is] working in all communities, in black communities, Hispanic communities, Asian communities and being far better than we were in 2012
Not just better than 2012, but far better. It’s true! He said so! So let’s see just how much better his party is among key growing non-white demographics. Here we are, 2012:”
OBAMA VS ROMNEY, EXIT POLLS, 2012 PRESIDENT
    Latino Black Asian
    OBAMA 71 93 73
    ROMNEY 27 6 26
Yup, that was pretty brutal. It had to be the GOP’s nadir, right? They can’t possibly do worse than that, could they? Let’s see what the latest Quinnipiac poll has to say:

    CLINTON VS TRUMP, Q-POLL, 11/23-30
    Latino Black
    CLINTON 76 87
    TRUMP 13 7
There aren’t enough Asians to get a valid sample, but they track alongside Latinos because of immigration. And the numbers above are likely optimistic for Republicans—raise your hand if you think the undecideds will fall to Trump (not to mention small-sample size distortions).

Also, it’s not just a Trump phenomenon, Clinton leads Rubio 69-18 and Cruz 72-17 among Latinos. This is a GOP-wide rejection.

So is Reince Priebus’ Republican party “far better” with communities of color than in 2012? Well, only if the GOP’s goal is to far better alienate non-white demographics. And given the rhetoric from pretty much all Republicans, that’s the only plausible explanation. So good job, guys! Mission accomplished

As if the Jeb Bush campaign hasn’t blown through enough money, the candidate has come up with a way to raise more, and it only requires a minor donation from his supporters. The campaign has promised to stop flooding supporters’ inboxes with campaign spam for the rest of the year as long as those supporters donate $25 to his campaign.
Late-night comic Trevor Noah, originally from South Africa, doesn’t understand why Americans fall for campaign fundraising schemes every election. Hear him explain why these tactics are no better than other email schemes that have been popular over the years in today’s Punchlines, above.
The late-night comics also take a look at the other GOP candidates who participated in last night’s main debate, with Stephen Colbert examining CNN’s promotion of it.

Thanks for the well wishes. I came through the surgery with flying colors. Now it’s just endless eye drops and wearing my safety glasses everywhere. I get the second eye done on the 29th. I can already see colors more brightly…. can’t wait to see what happens after I get my left eye done.

Jamie… get well soon. Colds are such a misery.

It’s raining here…. definitely know that we will not have a white Xmas now. Haven’t even put up the tree yet…. it doesn’t feel like December at all. The weather people are saying that they are expecting temps in the 60s on Christmas Day. I don’t mind, but Rick is going crazy…. No skiing! Only the areas in the northern parts of Maine and Vermont have any skiing right now.

ps… I did catch a bit of the Republican debate after the basketball game the other night. From what I gathered, they all want to do Shock & Awe part II… morons!

Renee, I’m so glad that your surgery has gone well. Now, remember this: If there is any hint of delayed healing or infection in eye one, don’t let them touch eye two until the first is totally sorted. Okay?

    2. Jamie Avatar

Hope all continues to go well and that you enjoy your new eyesight as much as I’ve enjoyed the change.

Flatus… my eye doctor has already told me that if she sees anything that she doesn’t like going on with my right eye, my left eye surgery will be rescheduled.

The hardest part for me is that because of the cloth dust that naturally occurs with weaving, I can’t weave until at least the middle of January. I feel like an addict going through withdrawals… 🙂

Used to be that a Kremlin endorsement would doom a presidential candidate, and particularly one from the GOP. It was President Ronald Reagan, after all, who stood in front of the Berlin Wall and famously challenged the USSR’s Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down this wall.”
But today both Putin and Trump have reasons to engage in a sort of personal political détente.

Many, if not all, are gifts from alumni-artists or deep-pocketed ones.
When I attended, the school wasn’t co-ed and it was host to an Episcopal seminary as well. Despite a strong academic focus, it was a pretty wild place.

If traditional, more than likely something along the lines of St. Theresa of India or St. Theresa of the Poor.

About Me

Retired great grandmother living in the Northwest US. Former radio Public Service Director and National Accounts Manager.

I’m a hair-dishevelled heilan’ coo,
Hamish McKay be ma name;
Welcome tae this dreichet glen
I’m cursed tae ca’ ma hame.
Depending on the mood I’m in
I’ll raise ma horns on high,
An’ if I like the look o’ ye
I’ll likely let ye by.
But should I dinnae like the look
O’ ye, then tak great care,
I’ll raise ma horns on high again,
Go on, get oot o’there!
So whether welcome yae or nae,
I’ll raise these horns sae mean,
Then ye shall ken ma meaning
By the twinkle o’ ma een.
