Retired great grandmother living in the Northwest US. Former radio Public Service Director and National Accounts Manager.

I’m a hair-dishevelled heilan’ coo,
Hamish McKay be ma name;
Welcome tae this dreichet glen
I’m cursed tae ca’ ma hame.
Depending on the mood I’m in
I’ll raise ma horns on high,
An’ if I like the look o’ ye
I’ll likely let ye by.
But should I dinnae like the look
O’ ye, then tak great care,
I’ll raise ma horns on high again,
Go on, get oot o’there!
So whether welcome yae or nae,
I’ll raise these horns sae mean,
Then ye shall ken ma meaning
By the twinkle o’ ma een.

I’m gonna be a racetrack goer rooting for American Pharoah for Halloween today.
I have him as my pick for Hallowe’en
And I’m all set with 54 boxes of Cracker Jack. It’s supposed to be a perfect evening for the little ones.
View from the left—the media’s ‘objectivity’ on Trump is an insult to journalism

“fter Scarborough asked Aguilar if he agreed with Trump that illegal immigration is a “big problem” in the U.S., he answered, “Oh absolutely,” but added that it’s “very naïve” to suggest that’s all Trump is implying. “He’s saying things like, the majority of undocumented immigrants from Mexico are rapists and criminals and that we have to deport everyone—that is absolutely ridiculous,” explained Aguilar, executive director of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles.
As Aguilar continued, Mika interjected, “Sir, if we could just be careful on both sides of this. I’m certainly not jumping to Trump’s defense here, but you just made two comments that I — I’m sorry, where did he say those exact words? … that all are ‘rapists’ or… I mean, I—“
Scarborough jumped in. “I don’t think that’s exactly what he said,” he asserted, backing up Brzezinski. They seemed to be objecting to Aguilar’s use of the word “majority.”
Waiting for the kids to arrive.. I’m giving out Milky Way, Snickers and Twix fun sizes.. Last year i had nearly 150 and hopefully i will again cause i don’t want any leftover…
OMG…. what a horse!
Thank You Universe for giving us American Pharoah!
I’m giving out Twix, Snickers, and M&Ms… so far no kids.
Sometimes we don’t get any… the library will get the left overs.
Usually no kids at apartments down here, but I bought tiny boxes of Craisins and glow-in-the-dark tattoos (gave away most of the tats at work) just in case.
Happy Halloween!
Remember giant, homemade popcorn balls? Blue. Green. Red. Other homemade goodies, too. And the lady who would drop one, unwrapped chocolate covered cherry into our bags. You had to go to her house first, eat it and move on so it didn’t get mashed up on the rest of your stuff.
We are going to a Halloween party as Pigs in a Blanket…no rick or treaters…sadly no excuse to buy candy
The young ‘uns should start arriving shortly. We almost got skunked on pumpkins this year.
Instead of a large one we had to settle for two small ones. We will be doing a miniature Halloween.
Just finished roasting the seeds. They go well with pale ale.
I’ll be 62 in November. Should I really be carving jack o lanterns?

This is lengthy, but well worth your time.
Leaving aside the analysis, what is startling is that no GOP candidate recognizes the truth of of the great recession. They and many others on the right are still in denial, believing foolishly and against all evidence to the contrary that tax cuts and the power of the free market will magically cure all economic evils.
The only thing that ever trickled down was piss and nobody ever fed a family or paid a mortgage with it.
It has been raining all day so even though it isn’t pouring now, I doubt we will get any threatening small people at the door.
That was an amazing run by a truly great horse

Bush vs. Rubio comes to Iowa
Appearing with his home-state rival and other GOP contenders, Bush says ‘I know I have to get better.’
By Shane Goldmacher
“DES MOINES, Iowa – Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio came to the same stage for the first time since their debate showdown earlier in the week that had ended disastrously for Bush, and it was a portrait of two politicians moving in opposite directions.
And it was clear that Bush knew it.
Story Continued Below
“I’m gonna get better. I oughta get better. I know I have to get better,” Bush told reporters after a speech to more than 1,000 GOP activists at the Iowa state fairgrounds.”

Happy Day Of The Dead, Jeb, you bitter, whining brat and your sad campaign.
Jace – You’re never too old for pumpkins. Happy Birthday month…celebrate all month!
I’ve been up since 4, eaten breakfast & lunch already & I’m ready for bed. It’s been a long weekend dealing long-distance with my dad’s sudden, mental decline and not being able to travel myself. Bro is a 7-hour drive from him.
I’m wiped.
blue, nothing seems quite so unsettling of one’s world both for he who is losing touch with it and those who care witnessing his loss and theirs as well. our hearts are with you.
Dearest Blue, I know it is a difficult time for you. Whenever you need people who care, we are with you.
Oh Blue
I’m so sorry.. I’ve been there and at times we feel so alone.. You’re not alone as none of us escape. Of course you’re wiped.. Tomorrow is another day.. Keep your chin up..
Blue…
so sorry to read about your dad… my prayers go out to both you and him.
I know I have to get better
— Jeb
Get better at what, lying?

Mrs Jack, at 62 not only carved a pumpkin but put on make up that had her looking like the undead so she could properly greet the children last night.
BTW, I’m not about to say she is too old.
Just sayin’
Jack
jack, congratulations on the “royal” win!
if only loser politicians would be such good sports about losing. from http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2015/11/02/classy-mets-salute-fans-congratulate-royals-in-defeat.html
The New York Mets’ World Series aspirations were squelched as they fell to the Kansas City Royals in Game 5 on Sunday, but as disappointed as they were, they managed to keep their heads held high and remain poised in the aftermath of the disillusioning loss.
Following their 7-2 loss to the Royals on Sunday night, the Mets emerged from the clubhouse to salute their home crowd at Citi Field for their support throughout the regular season and postseason, a classy gesture from a group of disappointed players.
Looks like Fred has bought the reverse mortgage….so long, Fred…….
Jack… (and any other Royals fan)
Congrats on the Royals WS win!
Wish I could have seen the end… just too late a night for me.
New Thread … Party on.

Partisan Growth Gaps
Paul Krugman
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/02/opinion/partisan-growth-gaps.html?ref=opinion&_r=0
“Last week The Wall Street Journal published an op-ed article by Carly Fiorina titled “Hillary Clinton Flunks Economics,” ridiculing Mrs. Clinton’s assertions that the U.S. economy does better under Democrats. “America,” declared Ms. Fiorina, “needs someone in the White House who actually knows how the economy works.”
Well, we can agree on that much.
Partisan positioning on the economy is actually quite strange. Republicans talk about economic growth all the time. They attack Democrats for “job-killing” government regulations, they promise great things if elected, they predicate their tax plans on the assumption that growth will soar and raise revenues. Democrats are far more cautious. Yet Mrs. Clinton is completely right about the record: historically, the economy has indeed done better under Democrats.”
Gotcha, G.O.P.
Charles Blow
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/02/opinion/gotcha-gop.html?src=trending&module=Ribbon&version=context®ion=Header&action=click&contentCollection=Trending&pgtype=article
“But perhaps it has its most resonance because of its use by the disastrously ill-equipped Republican vice presidential candidate, who repeatedly used the phase as an excuse for her train wreck interviews.
Gotcha questions have come to mean any question one doesn’t want to answer, any question whose answer would or could reveal something unflattering. In a way, a question is simply a question and only becomes a gotcha if you, the answerer, feel convicted and unsettled by it. Gotcha is in the mind — and spine — of the interviewee.”
