Remember The Ladies

Seneca Falls

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but rather a few examples of the wise words uttered by women and just why having a woman running for the Presidency is way, way overdue:

Abigail Adams (First Lady)

“I long to hear that you have declared an independency. And, by the way, in the new code of laws which I suppose it will be necessary for you to make, I desire you would remember the ladies and be more generous and favorable to them than your ancestors. Do not put such unlimited power into the hands of the husbands. Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could.

If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies we are determined to foment a rebellion and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation.”  Abigail Adams

Louisa May Alcott (Author)

“I like to help women help themselves, as that is, in my opinion, the best way to settle the woman question. Whatever we can do and do well we have a right to, and I don’t think any one will deny us.”  Louisa May Alcott

Amelia Bloomer (Clothing Designer & Activist)

“The same power that brought the slave out of bondage, will in his own good time and way, bring about the emancipation of women, and make her the equal in power and dominion that she was in the beginning.”

Jane Addams (Social Welfare worker/Founder of Hull House)

“Old-fashioned ways which no longer apply to changed conditions are a snare in which the feet of women have always become readily entangled.”

Clara Barton (Founder of Red Cross)

“I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I go for anything new that might improve the past.”

Marian Anderson (Singer, Civil Rights activist)

“I have an almost complete disregard of precedent, and a faith in the possibility of something better. It irritates me to be told how things have always been done. I defy the tyranny of precedent. I go for anything new that might improve the past.”

Mary McCloud Bethune (Educator & Stateswoman)

“Whatever glory belongs to the race for a development unprecedented in history for the given length of time, a full share belongs to the womanhood of the race.:

Shirley Chisholm (Member of Congress, First woman Presidential Candidate of major party)

“At present, our country needs women’s idealism and determination, perhaps more in politics than anywhere else.”

Molly Ivins (Political Humorist)

“So keep fightin’ for freedom and justice, beloveds, but don’t you forget to have fun doin’ it. Lord, let your laughter ring forth. Be outrageous, ridicule the fraidy-cats, rejoice in all the oddities that freedom can produce.”

About Me

Retired great grandmother living in the Northwest US. Former radio Public Service Director and National Accounts Manager.

I’m a hair-dishevelled heilan’ coo,
Hamish McKay be ma name;
Welcome tae this dreichet glen
I’m cursed tae ca’ ma hame.
Depending on the mood I’m in
I’ll raise ma horns on high,
An’ if I like the look o’ ye
I’ll likely let ye by.
But should I dinnae like the look
O’ ye, then tak great care,
I’ll raise ma horns on high again,
Go on, get oot o’there!
So whether welcome yae or nae,
I’ll raise these horns sae mean,
Then ye shall ken ma meaning
By the twinkle o’ ma een.
