5 On Friday – Welcome To The World

5 Balloons

The 5 On Friday meme was invented by Travis of  Trav’s Thoughts.  To take part simply select 5 songs to share and sign in on his website to visit the other participants.

September is my daughter’s birthday month for the next few weeks you get the songs of 1964.

Beatlemania was in full swing.  Of the top 50 songs for the year, nine were by the Fab Four.

64 — a very great year! Says the other person born in it… I was called the Beatle Baby at the hospital because I was born with Ernie-and-Bert hair. 64 Beatles — loved this set! Happy September Birthday Month to your daughter.

1964 was my birth year too! I won’t ask you how it feels to have a 49 year old child, because my mom already told me what that’s like.

On the day I was born, 11 April, The Beatles had the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 spots on the Billboard Hot 100. They also had 31, 41, 46, 58, 65, 68, and 79. It’s tough sometimes for later generations to understand how truly remarkable The Beatles were. Nothing at the time sounded like they did. They were honestly revolutionary in terms of modern music.

I still remember the year Sergeant Pepper came out. You couldn’t turn on a radio without getting inundated with the music. Nothing like it had ever been heard.

About Me

Retired great grandmother living in the Northwest US. Former radio Public Service Director and National Accounts Manager.

I’m a hair-dishevelled heilan’ coo,
Hamish McKay be ma name;
Welcome tae this dreichet glen
I’m cursed tae ca’ ma hame.
Depending on the mood I’m in
I’ll raise ma horns on high,
An’ if I like the look o’ ye
I’ll likely let ye by.
But should I dinnae like the look
O’ ye, then tak great care,
I’ll raise ma horns on high again,
Go on, get oot o’there!
So whether welcome yae or nae,
I’ll raise these horns sae mean,
Then ye shall ken ma meaning
By the twinkle o’ ma een.
